With the recent merger of Space Imaging Inc. with the Earth Observation Satellite Company (EOSAT), a new era in remote sensing data provision to GIS users has arrived. An unprecedented range of multispectral and panchromatic products from the Landsat and IRS series of satellites is being provided to worldwide customers today. The current product line ranges in ground resolution from 23 to 180 meter in multispectral to 5 meter panchromatic. In December of this year the launch of the CARTERRA 1 satellite will add 4 meter multispectral and better than 1 meter panchromatic imagery. Between now and the year 2000, Space Imaging EOSAT plans to provide several additional data types from new sattelites, of which an overview will be presented at the conference.
Space Imaging EOSAT recognizes the strong growth of remote sensing data needs of GIS users in the Middle East in recent years. To satisfy this growing demand for digital satellite data, steps are being taken to ensure availability of all data types to GIS users in the Middle East region.
