Abstract : |
According to Cairo Governorate area, the growing of its
population, basic constructions and utilities increased up
to 3% from its area since 1980. Egypt found that the most
suitable way is to use GIS.
Utility Data Center has used GIS and ARC/INFO program to
establish a data base of the underground utilities in
Greater Cairo such as Gas, Telephone, Electricity, Water and
Sewage.
UDC has been established on 17.10.88. After a while UDC
expanded its activities to cover Greater Cairo by
establishing 5 Branch offices. UDC uses GIS, GPS and Total
Station to produce survey to scale 1:500. UDC database is
about to be completed.
It's forbidden for any organization, public or private
sector or citizens to establish or make utilities
connections except after getting a technical licence from
UDC. UDC is always following up the Technology development
of Survey activities, Global Position System, detection
equipment, Hardware and Software systems.
UDC also cooperate with the following authorities:
- Egyptian survey Authority.
- Military survey Authority
- Information Decision Support Center IDSC.
- And also with all specialized computer companies all over
the World.
Dr. Sayyed Badr Al-Sayyed Ali - Profile :
Dr. Sayyed Badr Al-Sayyed Ali received his BS in Military
Sciences from Egyptian Military Academy in 1960 and Master
of Military Sciences (Survey-Chief of reconnaissance force)
from erstwhile USSR in 1969. In 1993, he received his Ph.D.
in Management. He has done a number of Military courses and
has participated in many conferences.

- Military Intelligence and reconnaissance. 1977-1984.

Authority of the Egyptian Army.
- Chief of operation Branch in the Artillery Headquarters.
