Text Of The Paper

This paper outlines KISR's approach towards establishing a GIS-based Environmental Decision Support System. The first level of this approach is the assessment of data bases that cover all environmental compartments (marine, terrestrial, atmospheric and socio-economic) that are currently available at different agencies in Kuwait.

The second level of the approach involves the establishment of an infra-structure that comprises these databases under a single coherent GIS.

The third level is the development of the decision-support system that will be used by the concerned environmentalist as well as the decision makers in Kuwait.

The paper will also present the latest achievements at all three levels outlined in this abstract.
