Text Of The Paper

The presentation will highlight the global market for Geomatics related activities which is estimated to be worth $10 billion with an annual growth rate of 20%.

Particular reference will be made to sector priority areas which include land registry systems, environmental and infrastructure programs for natural resources management, municipal/local governments and utilities.

Major technology trends affecting these lines of business will be addressed including the tendency for increased integration of the specialized fields of geomatics.

The effects of these technological developments and the rationalization of public sector programs are impacting on the technical and managerial skills of the geomstics community. Some of these directions will also be leading to various models of program delivery, including build, operate and transfer (BOT) initiatives which will impact on the type of products, services and added value which will become prominent in global markets.
