Lots of comments, letters, and faxes continue to pour into our offices from all over the world. I can proudly say that Al-Khabar continues to promote the excellent reputation of the Centre for GIS and the State of Qatar throughout the world. The editorial team has received strong approval from individuals and institutions from as far away as North and South America, Africa, India, and Russia. On the Internet, I have visited more than 50 Web Sites that have information about either CGIS and our unique GIS implementation here in the State of Qatar, or the coming GIS/GPS Conference '97, which will be held on March 2-4, 1997 in the capital city of Doha. Due to all of this positive feedback, from you our readers, we have decided to jump the number of pages of Al-Khabar from 8 to 12 pages with this issue. In closing, I would like to congratulate my friend and colleague Abdulla Saleh Al-Kuwari on his appointment to Assistant Head of CGIS. It is a well deserved promotion and I'm sure he will do well in his new position. No doubt that because of the ever increasing distribution of Al-Khabar, the gossip about CGIS in the State of Qatar has been spilled.
