ESRI Middle East Conference a Success

 

 

ESRI's 3rd annual North Africa and Middle East user conference, held this past September, was judged a resounding success according to attendee reports.

Hosted by local distributor, Graphtech, the conference was held in Tunis, Tunisia and provided an important forum for users in the region to discuss problems and share solutions.

Hussain Al-Sayegh, Editor-in-Chief and Jack Dangermond, President of ESRI's North Africa/Middle East User Conference.

and Hussain Ali A. Al-Sayegh, Al-Khabar's Editor-in-Chief. Al-Sayegh presented, "The GIS Experience in Qatar," which was well received.

Maps from all over the Middle East were entered in the well-attended poster session. Qatar won the overall competition with its submissions from various ministries. A poster submitted by Ministry of Public Health, which mapped various aspects of the country's primary health care facilities for comparative purposes, attracted much attention.

Various proposals were discussed to broaden the forum for succeeding conferences including ways to actively promote more cooperation between North African and Middle Eastern countries.
